Return to LawEnforcer

My name is Jim Young.  I'm retired from a career in law enforcement and am now a Private Investigator. My law enforcement career started in 1969 when I became a US Army MP, and ran straight through 2003, when I retired.  In between the beginning and the end, I was a member of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office (California) for a few years, then with the Santa Rosa Police Department (also California) for a bunch of years, where I was a violent crimes detective, and with the Sonoma County Welfare Fraud Unit.  I maintain current memberships in the United Council on Welfare Fraud, the Fraternal Order of Police, the High Technology Crime Investigator's Association, the Sonoma County Law Enforcement Association (as a retiree, of course), and the Retired Peace Officer's Association of California.  My past memberships have included, among others, the California Robbery Investigator's Association,  the California Financial Crimes Investigator's Association, the California Homicide Investigator's Association, the California Welfare Fraud Investigator's Association, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Employees Association, and the Santa Rosa Police Officers Association.  I'm a grunt, have always been a grunt, and will always be a grunt.  I was never supervisor material.  That was made clear to me in no uncertain terms by any number of Departments.  But, I accept life as it presents itself.

I snow ski on occasion, and SCUBA once in a while.  I like some country and western, rock and roll from the 60's 70's and 80's, corn on the cob, and toying with computers. I don't care much for sushi, eggplant, dirty nails, or people who took EST training seriously.  I read books--fiction, mostly.  If you're using Internet Explorer, the background sound you hear is a Midi rendition of Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight", one of my favorites.

My wife, Glenda, and I live in Ohio with three cats, a dog, and Maureen, the 18 year old.
